Bradley's TaeKwonDo instructor came to visit West Lyon on Friday, February 17. He taught the West Lyon first graders about How to act respectfully and how to get away from strangers.

Mary Person is currently in her 25th year of teaching at West
Lyon. Throughout her tenure at West Lyon, she has taught third, second, and first grade. Mary has earned a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Education Degree from the University of Sioux Falls. West Lyon was her first teaching assignment. In 1990, Mary taught third grade in an inner city Chicago magnet school. She returned to West Lyon in 1991. Her favorite quote is, "A journey begins with a single step." Mary states, "The joy of teaching first grade is being able to see the beginning steps of a child's educational journey. What a treat!"
